Marco Luciano is slashing .286 with six home runs through the 2026 minor league season. This resurgence follows a three-year decline for the former top prospect as he is showcasing improved power and strike zone discipline.

Despite back-to-back setbacks, this 2026 minor league season has been a comeback for Luciano. Across -70 at-bats, the former elite prospect is slashing .286 AVG/.363 OBP/.992 OPS with 20 hits, six home runs, 10 RBI.

On top of that, he has two stolen bases while scoring 19 runs in total. Last year in Triple-A for San Francisco, Luciano shot 23 homers and stole 10 bases. However, his .214/.335/.413 slash line at the doorstep of the majors hardly jumped off the page.

Marco Luciano absolutely crushes the baseball when he connects with the pitch. In addition to that, he rarely misses bad pitches and has showcased strike zone understanding.

However, he has holes in his swings, leading to high whiff and strikeout rates.

Marco Luciano’s comeback may come in a platoon role

In Luciano’s MLB career, he has 115 career at-bats, he slashed .217/.286/.590 with zero homers and only three RBI’s.

The Yanks already have Amed Rosario at their disposal as a platoon hitter. Yet stats indicate that the shortstop's value might lie in his becoming the short-side option in a corner outfield platoon.

  • 2024 – 134 PA, .277/.396/.518, 15.7 BB%, 24.6 K%
  • 2025 – 129 PA, .282/.403/.583, 17.8 BB%, 26.4 K%

These are his minor league numbers. However, even then, Marco Luciano has posted an OPS north of .900 against left-handers across the last three seasons.

The Yankees have also shown enthusiasm about promoting players who are performing well. They are reportedly set to call up 20-year-old George Lombard Jr., who has hit .324 with four homers and a 1.008 OPS in 19 games in 2026 so far.
