Do Past Coincidences Predict Another Title? Red Sox Fans Are Divided

After a rough 10-17 start to the 2026 season, the Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora. Now, after back-to-back wins, MLB Network contributor Jared Carrabis has highlighted a coincidence leaving fans divided.

Carrabis posted about the coincidence on X, highlighting how the last three times the Red Sox fired a manager, they went on to win the World Series the following year.

Back in 2003, when they fired Grady Little, they won the World Series in 2004. The same pattern followed the departures of Bobby Valentine in 2012 and John Farrell in 2018.

The day the Red Sox let go of Alex Cora and five others from the coaching staff, the Boston Red Sox crushed the Orioles 17-1. They followed it up with another 5-3 win in the very next game, and now, in their opener against the Blue Jays, they’ve secured a 5-0 victory as well.

Fans questioned the Boston Red Sox’s future

One fan said if the team wants to continue the streak, they will have to bring in more muscle. “Ahh idk man. They’ll have to do some serious spending or bring in the right pieces to make a run at it next year,” the user commented.

“Yes, but you also didn’t bring all your coaches from the farm system to replace them, k****** the development,” another fan wrote. After firing Alex Cora, the Red Sox promoted Chad Tracy as the team’s interim manager.

"Chad has been in the organization for a while. He's managed at the highest level of our Minor League system, and he's familiar with and has meaningful relationships with a majority of our roster, given the younger players that we do have," said Craig Breslow

"He's demonstrated an ability to get the most out of that group,” added the former MLB pitcher. Despite that, one fan believed that the Red Sox need to get their house in order.

"If the Sox keep messing around, it might be in the same year this time," commented the fan.
