Just days ago, the New York Yankees fans were concerned as the Boston Red Sox beat the Yankees for the third straight day, 4-1 on Saturday, June 27. But now it's not just about the Red Sox, as the Tampa Bay Rays enter the conversation.

New York has now lost six straight, its longest skid of the season, while the bats remain ice cold. It is a stark contrast to the Rays’ situation. Tampa Bay has won six straight games.

"The Yankees have ended the month of June on a six-game losing streak," FOX Sports MLB tweeted on June 30.

The Yankees’ sixth loss came after losing 9-3 to the Detroit Tigers on June 30.

The Yankees' offensive slump continued in Tuesday's defeat to Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers. Over their last five games, New York has totaled just 16 hits while recording 10 or more strikeouts in eight of its last 10 games, per the YES Network.

Now 2½ games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East, the Yankees had no answer for Skubal, who surrendered only one hit, a solo shot by Ben Rice, and struck out nine across six innings. Meanwhile, Cam Schlittler endured a rough outing, allowing seven hits, six earned runs, and four homers in 4-plus innings.

And the Yankees manager is not happy about it.

“This week’s been rough, there’s no sugar coating it,” Aaron Boone told reporters. “What’s that? Six in a row. We almost pulled one out at Fenway, but otherwise I feel like we’ve been chasing uphill a lot.”

As New York witnessed yet another heartbreak, the fans did not hold back.

Yankees fans react to six-game losing streak

The New York Yankees finished the previous season with an overall regular-season record of 95-68. This season, they hold an overall record of 48-37, according to MLB.com. In the comments of Takin’ Yanks post, the fans made their feelings clear.

Their six-game slide made a fan compare them with the Rays, who hold a 49-33 overall record.

“Looks like the Rays are on a winning streak and the Yankees are perfecting the art of the losing streak, maybe they should swap jerseys for a change,” wrote a fan.

Another New York fan is now recovering from the disappointment by concentrating on the FIFA World Cup. “Good thing I have the World Cup to distract me from this team,” he wrote.

The Yankees are now on their longest losing streak of the season, which made another fan upset. “This is the worst june swoon of my entire lifetime without a doubt,” he wrote.

Over their last four games, the Yankees have gone just 12-for-123 (.098) at the plate, setting a franchise record for the lowest batting average in any four-game span, according to New York Yankees Stats.

“What a wild swing – Rays on fire, Yanks in freefall!” another fan compared the situation.

Another fan emphasized how quickly the Yankees have fallen in the playoff race during their losing streak.

“That's a staggering 5.5 games that they have lost in the standings since their last win on June 24,” he wrote.
