Giancarlo Stanton Injury Decision Pending: Aaron Boone Waiting on MRI Results

Giancarlo Stanton's status for the Texas Rangers series remains uncertain. Manager Aaron Boone is awaiting MRI results on the slugger's right calf. New York has already promoted a replacement to cover the vacancy in tonight's lineup.
Stanton was not in the Yankees' dugout against Texas after missing the final two games of their series in Houston. While he was still listed as an active player, he's headed to the injured list.
Yankees’ clubhouse reporter, Meredith Marakovits, wrote, “Aaron Boone said they will now likely make a decision after today's game based on the results of that MRI.”
When Aaron Boone was asked about Stanton’s fate, he said, “I do expect us to have a decision one way or another tonight.”
“We'll wait to hear on that to see how he does today. Again, it's been minor enough that we've continued to push this. So we'll see what the doctor says about it and how he responds to that,” he added.
The Yankees have called up outfielder Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for Monday’s game. The switch-hitter slotted straight in as the designated hitter, batting sixth. Meanwhile, Luis Gil has been sent back to Triple-A for assignment.
So, when can Giancarlo Stanton return?
Giancarlo Stanton is batting .256 with three homers and 14 RBIs across 24 games. The Yankees' front office has claimed that Giancarlo has calf tightness.
“It doesn’t look too serious, but enough to not want to wait a couple of more days,” Boone said about the nature of the injury.
However, Stanton's return timeline will depend on the MRI results. If it’s a severe tear, the typical recovery time is around 3–4 months. And this isn't the first time Giancarlo Stanton has dealt with a leg injury.
The 36-year-old has been out of the lineup due to injuries to the left hamstring (2020, 2023, and 2024), left quadriceps (2021), and right ankle and left Achilles (2022).
