The New York Yankees enter the series finale having dropped the first two games to the Milwaukee Brewers. They are leaning on the season debut of the starting pitcher Carlos Rodon.
Rodon has not taken a big-league mound since October 7, 2025, when he started Game 4 of the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rodon is set to make his season debut after nearly seven months away due to a left elbow injury from the big-league mound.
“I’m going to go out there and compete,” Rodon stated on Saturday, as per MLB.com. “I’m not really hanging my hat on seeing if I can still do this. I know I can still do this.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the pitcher had to adjust his approach last season because he did not have the same range of motion. Boone credited him for still finding success while working through those challenges, according to Sportsnet.

In 2025, Rodon appeared in a MLB-high 33 starts and went 18-9 with a 3.09 ERA and 203 strikeouts in 195.1 innings, and he finished sixth in AL Cy Young voting.
Over the two years, his 370.1 total innings were among the most in the Major Leagues. As Greg Joyce of the New York Post noted, "The biggest Yankees workhorse over the past two seasons is ready to get back in the saddle."
This season, he made three rehab starts, reached 83 pitches in his final outing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and stretched out to 6.1 innings before coming back up.
“This being probably my third time through a lengthy rehab process, I have some experience,” Rodon said, as per Greg Joyce. “Just [leaning] back on those times and working on the craft and trying to get back here and help the team.”
And regarding his potential limitations on Sunday, Rodon clarified, “I’m sure I’ll be on some sort of pitch count, but I’m not even going to ask. “I’m just going to go until they take me out.”
Logan Henderson’s Quest for the Milwaukee Sweep
Milwaukee is set to start Logan Henderson, a 24-year-old right-hander and one of the top pitchers, in the series finale.
Henderson enters the game with a 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA over 8 innings at the big-league level this season. His Triple-A numbers, however, were sharp, as he posted a 1.02 ERA with 26 strikeouts across 17.2 innings.
In his most recent start against Washington, Henderson struck out eight batters and allowed two earned runs on three hits over six innings. He issued zero walks in that start, highlighting the control that accelerated his big-league promotion.
