New York Yankees Hit Eight Straight Wins Following Second Triumph Over Astros

Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton was absent Saturday night after exiting Friday’s game with right calf tightness. However, that didn’t stop the Yankees from getting thier eight straight win, beating the Houston Astros 8-3 at Daikin Park.
The Astros took an early lead in the bottom of the first when Carlos Correa doubled to left-center and was driven home by an Isaac Paredes single. That was until Ryan Weathers, returning just three days after the birth of his first child, retired 11 straight Astros batters.
Trent Grisham belted a solo home run into the Crawford Boxes to tie the game in the third. In the fifth, José Caballero continued his hot streak from Friday's game, launching a solo shot. It gave New York a 2-1 lead. However, the Astros fought back in the sixth inning when Correa hit a 391-foot homer to tie the game once again.
The turning point came in the seventh. Austin Wells sent an inside fastball from Kai-Wei Teng over the right-field wall for a tiebreaking home run.

The inning snowballed for Houston. Bennett Sousa struggled with his command, walking four batters. Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. both drew walks with the bases loaded. New York's lead extended to 5-2.
Ben Rice, Ryan McMahon, and Wells closed the game 8-3 in the ninth. And now the Yankees are on the cusp of a third consecutive series sweep win.
Giancarlo Stanton injury update
Stanton hit an RBI single in the sixth inning and reached first base during Friday's 12-4 win. But when J.C. Escarra ripped a single to the left-field wall, Stanton was unable to score from second base and was later substituted with pinch runner Randal Grichuk.
After the game, Manager Aaron Boone gave the details. "Just some tightness in his calf. Hopefully, we got ahead of it. We’ll just see where he’s at," said the Yankees manager.
Boone explained that it was Stanton who didn't want to "push" it. "Whether that turns into a day-to-day situation, or if it turns into a short IL, we'll see. We'll kind of let the next several hours play out," the coach added.
Stanton confirmed he had not yet undergone any testing or even attempted to swing a bat.
“I feel better than yesterday. I’m going to try to give it 24 hours, and maybe [Sunday] see where we’re at and decide what to do,” Stanton told the media.
The team has not yet called up top prospects Jasson Domínguez or Spencer Jones from Triple-A, and is waiting for further evaluation on Sunday before making a roster move.
