When Aaron Judge fails, the entire Yankees crumble behind him. It’s not us saying this; the team's recent record reflects this decline. Their captain has been having a rough stretch this May, averaging .129 over his last eight outings, but is the comeback near?
Averaging .245 this season, Aaron Judge has been hitless in his last two games, both of which ended in defeat for the Yankees. Speaking of his more recent performance, the Yankees captain has yet to hit a homer in his last 10 games. Let alone any homers, he has been without an RBI in that same stretch.
On top of that, his current RBI drought is tied for his longest of his career. Judge witnessed a 10-game streak without driving a run back in 2016, when he was in his pre-rookie season, then again in 2019 and 2023.

When asked about his struggles, Judge was blunt in his assessment, saying, “I’m not doing enough at the plate.”
“That’s what we’re doing right there. I wouldn’t say we’re not seeing the ball well. I think it’s about making sure we’re swinging at the right pitches,” he added.
Since May 6, Judge has managed to hit just one home run and only three extra-base hits. The production drop is significant for the former MVP. This isn’t just a normal slump; his bats have gone completely cold.
In his recent at-bat against the Tampa Bay Rays, Aaron Judge again went hitless despite having five plate appearances. Both Judge and manager Aaron Boone have acknowledged the persistent slump.
The New York Yankees coach knows Aaron Judge’s slump pretty well
Over his last 52 at-bats, Aaron Judge is slashing .191/.321/.298, and the rough patch has been brutal for both him and the Yankees, who have lost 10 of their last 14 games during that span.
Speaking about Judge’s slump, Aaron Boone highlighted, “He’s just going through it a little bit right now. Usually, that means good things are coming on the other side. He’s a little in-between, probably. Fastballs got on him, and he was a little out in front of some other pitches.”
Some within the fanbase express that the Bronx Bombers are overly dependent on Judge. Without his production, there’s a noticeable drop in the Yankees' offense.
With that said, Judge’s comeback is essential for the Yankees, but can he? Well, upcoming games will answer this question.
