Yankees clubhouse divided on whether Cam Schlittler deserves the MVP award

Boone Thinks Three-Run Swat Remind of MVP Snub At least it still matters to Aaron Boone. Boone helped put Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler right in the middle of the AL MVP race after his latest twirl in the Yankees' 2-0 victory Sunday against the Mets, this time adding, Schlittler "might be the MVP, too."
But Yankees MVP frontrunner - three-time winner Aaron Judge - took a not-so-positive view of that. "He's definiely pitching like an MVP," Judge said. "They've got a Cy Young Award for a reason: for the best pitcher in the game. He's got my vote for Cy Young."

Schlittler is a long shot, too, for the MVP Award, which hasn't gone to a full-time pitcher since Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in 2014, or to an AL player since Justin Verlander with Detroit in 2011.

Since Judge returned to start this homestand, he's 3-for-17, with no extra-base hits, a walk and nine strikeouts, and he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts on Sunday.
