Yankees’ Judge and Rice Make History: 10+ HR, 20+ Walks Before May

Apr 28, 2026, 4:04 AM CUT

Aaron Judge and Ben Rice's routine dominance against the Texas Rangers turned historic as the duo managed to achieve a feat not seen in Yankee history.

The game saw Rice’s 10th home run of the season and Judge’s 11th. With that, the Yankees duo became the first set of teammates in MLB history to each record at least 10 home runs and at least 20 walks before the end of April, per analyst Katie Sharp.

Before Judge and Rice, several legendary pairings came close to this record. But everyone fell short of either walk or home run requirements. In 2007, Alex Rodriguez set an April record with 14 home runs, but he drew only 9 walks. His teammate Jorge Posada was also having a career-best start with a .311 average. But he finished the month with only 3 home runs and 8 walks.

And this was not the only record the duo shattered in the Monday game. Per MLB's Sarah Langs, Judge and Rice became the first Yankees teammates to hit 10-plus home runs in the team’s first 29 games of a season since Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle achieved the feat in 1956.

With his 11th home run, a solo shot off Jack Leiter, Judge moved into a tie for the League lead. He matches Houston’s Yordan Alvarez and the White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami.

Rice has been equally dominant and is currently tied for the second-most home runs in the league with 10. He is sharing the spot with James Wood of the Nationals. He entered the game slashing .326/.450/.733 with nine homers and 21 RBIs, and followed up with that 10th homer.

Yankees Recall Jasson Domínguez

The Yankees' offense is set to become even more formidable as the team has recalled top prospect Jasson Domínguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, April 27. Domínguez called up to provide reinforcements as the team evaluates slugger Giancarlo Stanton's right calf stiffness.

After a rookie campaign in 2025, where he hit .257 with 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases, and a good spring training, the team moved him to Triple-A for development. Since then, Domínguez has been slashing .326/.415/.478 with three home runs and eight stolen bases for the RailRiders.

With Domínguez now joining a lineup that already has Judge and Rice, the Yankees’ offense will only get stronger from here. However, his playing time may remain tied to Stanton’s health, as the Yankees' outfield already has players like Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham.
