The New York Yankees have officially avoided the sweep by the Los Angeles Dodgers. After losing the doubleheader, New York responded, drawing high praise from their team manager, Aaron Boone.

It was a team win for the Yankees and a win that might unite them while Aaron Judge remains out with a rib injury. Jazz Chisholm Jr. was the star for the Yankees, along with his pitching teammates.

"You're not sure exactly how you're going to piece together the night game," Boone told reporters per SNY. "A lot of people did a really nice job to get us that victory. Every win’s precious."

Chisholm hit a tie-breaking home run in the eighth inning off Evan Phillips for a 2-1 win. Moreover, five Yankees pitchers combined for a four-hitter, including Ryan Yarbrough, Paul Blackburn, Brent Headrick, Fernando Cruz and David Bednar.

"Obviously, we have that inning where we're bases loaded up one, no outs, and a chance to really take the game there in a lot of ways, and aren't able to come up with a big hit. And, uh, so, you know, it turned into a real big hit," added Boone in the same presser.

Cody Bellinger's RBI single helped the Yankees beat the Dodgers, marking just their second home victory in their last 11 games and preventing a series sweep during Los Angeles' first visit to the Bronx since its 2024 World Series triumph.

Previously, Boone had bluntly called out his team after an 8-2 loss. He said that the Yankees' lineup "has got to do more." The Yankees answered the call with a big win.

As Boone is happy with the win, Chisholm Jr. also broke his silence.

Yankees hero Jazz Chisholm Jr. gives brutal take on his 2026 performance

Chisholm hit a tie-breaking homer in the eighth inning to help the Yankees edge the Dodgers. It wasn’t a wild guess to find Chisholm raving about his game. Instead, the second baseman was even more humbled.

When reporters asked Chisholm about his performance before the game-tying home run, he was rather harsh in his assessment of his own performance the season before the go-

"It s*****. I've s***** all season," Chisholm said as reported by MLB.com. "The numbers speak for themselves."

His stats include a .224/.302/.403 stat line that also included 14 homers and 26 steals. But this could be a big turnaround for him. The Yankees are looking to boost their playoff berth

They will have to continue doing so, with Aaron Judge still out with a rib injury.

"We’ve got to be more consistent offensively, first and foremost,” Boone also said. “That’s been the biggest thing that I think has ailed us through these few weeks."

The Yankees manager has to squeeze out everything that his team has to offer.
